Frequently Asked Questions
What is Military Monday Biz?
"Military Monday Biz" is a spontaneous take-off on #MilitaryMon, an ad hoc collection of messages on Twitter started by @KissMyGumbo and made popular by @CarsonJDaly. Twitter has many users and has the potential to spread ideas quickly around the world. #MilitaryMonBiz is not affiliated with any particular nonprofit or business. The intention of Military Monday Promotions is to lend support to existing efforts at no charge, and to provide a central clearinghouse of information which will grow organically.
Who is behind MilitaryMonBiz (Military Monday Promotions)?
There is no company behind MilitaryMonBiz. MilitaryMonBiz is an ad hoc group of volunteers, nonprofit organizations, and merchants which share a desire to help US military personnel and veterans, to show support and love to their families, and to sustain that effort over time.
Who is participating so far?
We're just getting started, still making plans. Check for the hashtag #MilitaryMonBiz on Twitter for the latest, or look on Meetup.com for "Military Monday" meetups.
Who pays for all this?
The site was created and seed money provided by Samara Development. Pay-per-click ads or appropriate affiliate programs and/or direct sponsorships will be used to create positive/sustaining cash flow, and any excess revenues will accrue into cash prizes, which will be distributed to charities for additional promotion. As plans evolve, the budgets will be published for inspection. If successful, the effort might be "adopted" by a nonprofit fiscal agency, or form an L3C.
What does MilitaryMonBiz mean? Where did the name come from?
The term "biz" was tacked-onto the end of #MilitaryMon to indicate that the focus is business-oriented and to distinguish it from the pre-existing discussion on Twitter. MilitaryMon is an opportunity to set aside one day of the week to draw attention to all things military. In the past, messages on Twitter have been used for introductions, announcing events, promoting fundraisers, for linking to online articles, or sharing the names of fallen heroes. The suffix "biz" comes from the Internet top-level domain "dot-biz" which
indicates that this is a business effort (as distinct from "dot-org" charitable cause, or "dot-com" which could be anything). Effective promotion costs money: by creating a social enterprise we are designing MilitaryMonBiz to be self-funding.
Why Mondays?
Putting "Monday" in the name tells people that it's just one day out of the week. It gives media companies an opportunity to continually cover "heavy" subject matter with their audiences/readership without overwhelming them.

#MilitaryMonBiz is not affiliated with #MilitaryMon. #MilitaryMon is a separate effort, started by @KissMyGumbo and made popular by @CarsonJDaly.
